Upgrade to 3rd lane

Workouts during the taper should be short but intense. In attempt to follow this rule I have upgraded from line 4 to line 3 in my Masters swimming group.

The lane distribution in our group looks like this. Usually we have a lot of people in the first two lanes. Those guys and girls are scary fast and from what I can see have been coming there every single morning for years. 3 and 4th lanes are much less intense. Sometimes there is even just one person per lane, like it was yesterday.

I’m happy to say that I managed to hit all intervals without drafting. The last pyramid was the hardest, of usual. It went like this:

  • 2×50 on 1:05
  • 2×100 on 1:45
  • 2×200 on 3:10
  • 2:100 on 1:45
  • 2×50 on 1:15

This starts after 2+ km of swimming and the fun part is the 2×200 in the middle. I think I finished them around 3:02 and 3:07 and had almost no time to recover. But I was on time.

BTW,  line 2 had those intervals on 2:50. This is an OMG situation.
